Letting Go

I kept searching for an answer
To the simplest question,
“Why did I leave you?”
I loved you so much and
I gave it my all, but
At one point,
I had nothing more to give

I felt empty being with you
day after day
Not knowing the reason I started this
Even that reason was not enough 
To make me stay with you
At one point,
I had to let go

I still think about you and,
I ask to myself,
“Would I do it all over again?”
I say yes, without any hesitation
But, I will try not to
Hurt myself like this
By falling too hard 
In love with you

All you did was
Question my intentions
For being with you
And that made me
Happy about my decision
As leaving was my only choice
To stop hurting myself

“I’m not strong”
I used to think
Now, I know I’m strong
For it took all my strength
to walk away from you
Despite the history we shared
When I wasn’t treated right.
