The rush to Koyambedu

The last time I went by bus, there was too much traffic, so I boarded the bus near Porur. This time I had no choice but to go to Koyambedu.

My aunt told she would come and pick me up at the hostel at 6, so I had packed my bags and was ready to leave. I dragged my bags down from the 3^rd floor and successfully managed to reach the hostel gate without getting attacked by the hostel puppy. My uncle, aunt and their 2 sons came in a scooter as they didn’t get an Ola auto from their house. We tried booking one from the hostel but no one accepted our ride. If it was me, I wouldn’t have accepted a ride to Koyambedu as well during the festive season. The time was ticking and as every second passed by we knew the traffic was building up. We decided to go to Kottur gate and catch a running auto from there. My aunt, the luggage and me, rode to the gate whilst my uncle and the kids walked and came. We didn’t wait for them. We left the scooter near the security guard with the key there and tried to catch an auto. To our luck, there were no autos around. There was one traffic police standing there and he told us that we would get an auto on the opposite side. He helped us cross the road and also to catch an auto. I was thankful that the gods were on my side. As we left, we saw my uncle and the kids getting onto the scooter. We rushed to the Aalandhur metro and bought the tickets. We five then went to the platform and waited for the train to arrive. I was able to catch my breath only after I sat down inside the train. We got down at a station and took an auto from there to Koyambedu. There was slight traffic but we reached on time. Unfortunately, the bus was late by 40 minutes. The rush was a waste but definitely a memory to be cherished.

This is the story of my first trip to Koyambedu. The place which I often get confused with Kodambakkam. Maybe next time, I’ll try to go there on my own. That will be another adventure to write for sure.
